A behind-the-scene look into the Development of the Tathkeer Wearable
Background & Design Requirements
Client Brief (You → Yourself):
You needed a single, screen-free wearable to prompt every pillar of your daily spiritual practice: the five prayers plus adhkār, Quran recitation, hydration, family check-ins, healthy breaks.
It had to be slim (Apple-Watch scale), discreet (vibration + LED), low-power, and fit standard watch straps.
Future goals: mosque-specific prayer cues, Thursday/Friday special dhikr, location-based prayer times via user’s locale.

Engineering Challenges
1. Inclusive Reminder Logic
– Align 35 daily events (30 min before athān, adhkār cycles, hydration) to shifting prayer times by GPS or set locale.
– Built an .ics prototype to validate timing in Google Calendar.
2. Miniaturized Electronics
– Consolidated microcontroller, RTC, charger, motor, LED, switch onto a 22 mm watch board.
– Wire-wrap perf-board proved bulky; moving to custom 2-layer PCB in KiCad for sub–6 mm thickness.
3. Mechanical Fit
– Designed octagonal PETG shell in Fusion 360; test print needed +1 mm strap-bar clearance.
– Internal “well” carved to house 12 000 mm³ of electronics.
Product Outcomes
– Working Prototype: First wire-wrap board running ArduinoAI sketch with vibration + NeoPixel feedback—no compile errors, pending real-world test.
– Calendar Sync: .ics file created for daily routine, tested in real-time on Google Calendar.
– 3D-Printed Shell: Octagonal watch case with reusable spring-bar strap mounts; on-wrist comfort confirmed after minor fit-tweaks.
Future Milestones:
Custom PCB order from PCBWay (Gerbers + BOM ready)
Full assembly and hardware validation (battery life, haptic strength)
Companion mobile app for auto-fetching prayer times and work-hour profiles
